The Transplanted Garden is located in downtown Wilmington. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will happily help you pick out the plant or container for your needs, or we can help you plan your entire garden or plant your container for you.

The nursery is stocked year ’round with all the time-tested varieties for our region, but we are always looking for something different and unique, to make your garden special. We look forward to helping you with all your gardening needs.

Owners Tom Ericson and Allen Sabin opened The Transplanted Garden in March 2000. Their vision was an intimate garden center offering knowledgeable, friendly, personalized service with the best and widest variety of plants available for our area.

Before moving to Wilmington, Tom was a top rated Landscape Designer in Connecticut, planning everything from cottage gardens to estates in Greenwich and Stamford. He also designed an award winning display at the Philadelphia Flower Show. If you bring in printed pictures of your problem areas or new garden beds, Tom or another member of our staff will design a garden for you, and assist you in picking out the proper plant material for your new garden.

Allen was a department store buyer and gift store owner, and has used those skills to showcase some fascinating plant related gifts and a huge selection of containers of all sizes and materials. We will help you design beautiful combinations for you to plant in the containers you choose, or if you prefer, we will plant them for you.

Tom’s encyclopedic knowledge of plants has become legend in Wilmington and he does frequent lectures for local garden clubs (just be sure to call at least 6 months in advance).
