This 30-plus-year-old C. japonica chance seedling first bloomed over 25 years ago. It was originated by Dennis Rouse of Auburn, Alabama and registered by the Auburn-Opelika Men’s Camellia Club.

Bloom: The large to very large sized 5” x 2.5” semidouble form flower is red R.H.S color chart red group 46B. It has yellow anthers and white with red base filaments. The bloom consists of 18 petals. It is a profuse bloomer. The long lasting flowers have a consistent form, heavy petal texture and fall in one piece.

Plant: The plant habit is upright spreading and open. The growth rate is average. The plant is suitable for landscaping use.

Leaf: The medium green leaves average 4” x 2” with low serration.

Bloom season: Late.
