This 14-year-old C. japonica chance seedling of ‘Elegans Miniata’ first bloomed in 2005. It was originated, registered and propagated by Pat B. Johnson of Cairo, Georgia.

Bloom: The very large sized 5" x 3" single form flower is satin red. It has gold anthers and pale pink filaments. The long lasting, profuse bloomer has fluorescence, heavy petal texture,  consistent form, and falls in one piece.

Plant: The plant habit is upright and dense. The growth rate is slow. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition uses.

Leaf: The dark green leaves average 3.5” x 1.25” with low serration.

Bloom season: Early to midseason.
