This 14-year-old C. japonica chance seedling of 'Elegans Miniata' first bloomed in 2012. It was originated, registered and propagated by Pat B. Johnson of Cairo, Georgia.

Bloom: The large sized 5" x 2" semi-double form flower is vibrant, brilliant red with bright yellow anthers and cream filaments. This cultivar is a profuse bloomer, falls in one piece, is long lasting, has heavy petal texture and has consistent form.

Plant: The plant habit is upright and open. The growth rate is slow. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition.

Leaf: The medium green leaves average 3" x 1 1/2" with low serration.

Bloom season: Early to midseason.
