This 14-year-old C. japonica chance seedling of ' Edna Campbell' and first bloomed in 1998. It was originated and registered by E. Hulyn Smith of Valdosta, Georgia and propagated by Loch Laurel Nursery of Valdosta, GA and Erinon Nursery of Plymouth, FL.
Bloom: The large to very large semi-double flower is 5" x 1.5" (5.5" x 1.5" treated) is deep red. Yellow anthers and yellow-red filaments. The plant is a profuse bloomer. The bloom falls in one piece, has heavy petal texture, unique color, special fluorescence or sheen and consistent form. The petals have a waxy sheen.
Plant: The plant habit is upright. The growth rateis vigorous. The plant is suitable forlandscaping and exhibition uses.
Leaf: The dark green leaves average 3" x 1.5"
