About the Middle Georgia Camellia Society

 The Middle Georgia Camellia Society is a non-profit, education organization, chartered on January 10, 1948, primarily to stimulate and promote interest in the camellia.

Our purpose is to:

  • Stimulate and extend the appreciation of camellias and to promote the science of camellia culture in Middle Georgia and to encourage private and public planting of camellias.

  • Bring together in friendship and fellowship camellia growers and those interested in camellias in Middle Georgia.

  • Assist local growers through discussions and dissemination of information on the general culture of camellias.

 MGCS host two camellia shows and a camellia workshop each year. 
  • The first camellia show is held during the month of October and is sponsored by the Georgia National Fair, Perry, GA.

  • The workshop is held at Massee Lane Gardens on January 25th, 2024, with Registration starting at 9 a.m.  Workshop fee is $25.  .

  • Our 2nd flower show is held in February as part of the “Festival of Camellias” at Massee Lane Gardens in Fort Valley, GA. This show is held on the third Saturday of February and is sponsored by Flint Energies.

Meredith Green-2727 American Camellia Society - Fort Valley, Georgia
The American Camellia Society is a national membership organization dedicated to fostering appreciation for and knowledge of plants of the genus Camellia. Founded in 1945, the Society is headquartered at Massee Lane Gardens near Fort Valley in central Georgia. Massee Lane Gardens has nine acres of camellia plantings and an additional twenty-plus acres devoted to specialty gardens and collections. Massee Lane Gardens is an International Garden of Excellence. The American Camellia Society is a member of the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta and of The International Camellia Society. The Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
