About the Quitman Garden Club

The Quitman Garden Club is dedicated to community service through the beautification of  our town, as well as public education through our organization of the Annual Quitman Camellia Show and membership in the American Camellia Society.

The Quitman Garden Club is a non-profit community organization that works to further its goals of education, conservation, historic preservation, and community service.  The Quitman Garden Club was organized in 1952 (following its predecessor, the Woman's Club of Quitman) and is affiliated with The Garden Club of Georgia.  Garden Club of Georgia is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1891.  It has over 12,000 members in 420 clubs nationwide.

The Quitman Garden Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month from September to May.  Activities include guest speakers, field trips, community service projects, and organizing the annual Quitman Camellia Show.  Our club currently has 36 members composed of women and men.  We welcome new members.

As "Georgia's Camellia City" and as the birthplace of the Betty Sheffield Camellia, Quitman and its Garden Club have hosted Camellia shows since the 1930s.  While Quitman's residents enjoy their camellias year-round, the annual show is an opportunity for us to share these spectacular blooms with visitors from all over the country.

Meeting are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, September thru May.  Meetings are usually scheduled at 4:00 p.m.
