Wendzalea
This C. azalea hybrid is a cross of C. japonica 'Wendy' x C. azalea which first flowered 2007. It was originated by E. Hulyn Smith of Valdosta, Georgia in 2009.
Bloom: The medium semi-double flower is glowing ruby red with an upstanding central tube of stamens with yellow anthers and whitish filaments.
Plant: The plant habit is upright. The growth rate is vigorous. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition uses.
Leaf: Medium green, eliptical with low serration.
Bloom season: Blooms in July to November and a second time from February through March.
