This 10-year-old C. japonica chance seedling first bloomed in 1997. It was originated, registered and propagated by E. Hulyn Smith of Valdosta, Georgia.
Bloom: The small sized 2.5" x 1.75" (untreated) and 2.75" x 1.75" (treated) formal double flower is dark red edged in black. The bloom consists of numerous petals and sometime show swirls. This profuse bloomer is long lasting and shows a unique color.
Plant: The plant growth habit is upright. The growth rate is vigorous. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition uses.
Leaf: The light green leaves are 3.5" x 1.5".
Bloom season: Midseason.
