2019 Club Director Election Results

Thank you so much for participating in our third selection process for our Club Director board positions. Only four clubs nominated candidates, each of whom were the incumbents. One nominee was already the incumbent for an unexpired term, and therefore not eligible. The chair of the Leadership Development Committee, Jim Dickson, decided an election with no opposition was unnecessary.
Therefore, the incumbents will retain their posts for the Atlantic, Gulf Coast, and Pacific Coast Club Director Terms, with all positions having an effective start date of July 1, 2020. However, the two-year post for the Atlantic Coast region remains vacant.

Club Director Position Responsibilities

Elected by Region: Nominated by Local Clubs, Elected by ACS Membership
Term Length: One to Three Years
Responsibilities General: Club Directors shall actively seek to effectuate all of the missions and purposes of ACS in their regions; and shall be responsible for developing and serving the members in their regions, including organizing conventions which are held in their regions.
Responsibilities Specific:
  • Membership in ACS and in a local club
  • Contagious enthusiasm for ACS and building membership through active marketing
  • Attendance at all meetings of the ACS Board of Directors in person or by conference call (if unable to attend in person)
  • Adequate preparation for all meetings including review of all materials sent in advance
  • Communication (E-mail and Internet capacity on a regular basis and commitment to respond to communications in a timely manner)
  • Willingness to serve on ACS Committees (Serve on one or more committees and take responsibility for completing committee and/or task work in a timely manner)
  • Annual financial donation (Appropriate for one’s own means and paying own expenses for travel to ACS Board meetings, etc.)
  • Fundraising (Willingness to participate in fundraising activities of the ACS, including solicitation of others and identification of prospects)
  • Understanding of nonprofit governance (ability to read budgets, audits and financial reports for both ACS and the ACS Trust; organizational planning, risk management, respect for organizational structure, commitment to ensuring organizational accountability and integrity)
